Participation/Awareness/Functions
and Celebration :
15th August, 2002 (DSCO-J-T) : The Jowai Soil Conservation Division (T) participated in the Independence Day Celebration at Jrisalein Playground, Jowai A Tableau on the theme of Watershed Management and Soil Conservation Activities was also displayed. The tableau attracted a large number of the members of the public especially School Children who came to witness the Celebration.
**** 18th September, 2002 (DSCO-NT) : Shri D. Langstieh, DSCO, Nongstoin attended an Awareness Programme on Conservation of Environment at Mawlangkhar Secondary School and delivered a lecture to the farmers and students who attended the programme. **** 27th September, 2002 (DSCO SHG-T) : A Football cum Conservation Awareness Campaign for the Cowherd and School Children under the age of 14 years was organised at the Umpling - Umrynjah Watershed for 1 (one) day by the Watershed Association - Umpling Umrynjah Watershed (WDPSCA-Scheme) on the 27th September, 2002 at Umrynjah Playground.
Five (5) teams participated in the tournament. Umrynjah A team emerged as the winner and Madan Mawkhan team were Runners Up. Shri K.W. Marbaniang, Divisional Soil Conservation Officer Shillong (T) was the Chief Guest and distributed the prizes to the team. Awareness Campaign on Promotion of Environment and Conservation of Natural Resource was also imparted by the Officers of the Soil and Water Conservation Department. **** 3rd to 5th December, 2002 (DSCO-SIM) : The Simsanggre Soil Conservation Division participated in the Annual District Level Industries Exhibition at Williamnagar from the 3rd to 5th December, 2002. Photos of various activities of the Department and sample seedlings of cash and horticultural crops were exhibited. **** 4th to 5th DECEMBER, 2002 : (DSCO:J-T) Jaintia Hills Soil Conservation Division participated in the 17th Industrial Exhibition 2002 at Tpep-Pale Club Playground, Jowai. Activities of the Department in the District were exhibited. 11th December, 2002 (DSCO-NT) : A multi purpose Conservation Pond Cum Community Washing Place at Nongpyndeng implemented by the Nongstoin Soil Conservation Division under the Employment Assurance Scheme was officially handed over to the public by the Deputy Commissioner, West Khasi Hills District on the 11th December, 2002. On the request of the District Administration the Division implemented other Schemes under the EAS, such as Footbridges, Conservation Ponds, Community Washing place etc.
20th December, 2002 : A Pre-Christmas Celebration 2002 of the officers and staff Soil and Water Conservation Department, Meghalaya Shillong was held on the 20th December, 2002 at Soil Conservation Complex, Wahdienglieng. The Celebration was chaired by Shri K.C. Momin, Additional Director of Soil and Water Conservation The Welcome address was delivered by Shri K.L. Tariang, Director of Soil and Water Conservation and Shri P.W. Ingty, IAS, Commissioner and Secy. Soil & Water Conservation, Department. delivered a short speech The Christmas message was delivered by Rev. H.M. Wahlang Pastor of the Madanryting Presbyterian Church Shillong The Headmen and the Secretary of the Risa colony locality, the Wahdienglieng locality also attended the function which was followed with songs and dinner. **** |
