July - December, 2002.

10th July, 2002 (DSCO-NT) : A Farmer Training Programme was held at Nonglang, West Khasi Hills for farmers benefitting from the Scheme WDPSCA under the Umkhynrew; Ummari and Umsawpungsier Micro Watershed. Shri D.C. Sanglein, District Horticultural Officer inaugurated the Training as Chief Guest and Shri D. Langstieh, DSCO Nongstoin presided over the function.

24th September, 2002 (DSCO - SHG-T) : A one day Training Programme on Watershed Development etc. for farmers of Umjathang Village under Umlew Watershed (WDPSCA - Scheme) was organised by State Institute of Rural Development, Nongsder in collaboration with the Soil and Water Conservation Department Shillong (T) Division.

The Training was held on the 24th September, 2002 at L.P. School, Umjathang. About 50 Nos. of participants attended the Training Programme.

22nd-23rd,September, 2002 (DSCO- SIM) : A Training on Management of Watershed was imparted to the Watershed Project Committee of Rangro, Imjenggip and Gabilchise Watersheds at the Project area.

7th November, 2002 (DSCO-NT) : A Farmers Training Programme was organized at Tynghor Village for the farmers of Umnei and Umpor Watersheds was held on the 7th November, 2002.

Farmers attentively listening to the lecture given by Resource Persons.

The Training Programme was inaugurated by Shri D. Langstieh, Divisional Soil Conservation Officer Nongstoin as the Chief Guest. Resources persons from Veterinary, Agriculture, Horticulture, Forest and Soil and Water Conservation imparted Training to the 250 farmers who attended the Training Programme.

9th-10th, December, 2002 : Shri K.W. Marbaniang, DSCO Shillong (T) attended as a Guest Lecturer on the Training Programme on Watershed Development and Management. organised by Department of Agricultural Engineering, ICAR at the ICAR Complex, Barapani.

3rd - 5th December, 2002 (DSCO-SHG-T) : An Off-Campus Programme on participatory Watershed Management (Training of Trainers) organised by the State Institute of Rural Development, Meghalaya, was held at the Auditorium of the Office of the Divisional Soil Conservation Officer (T) Shillong from the 3rd to 5th December, 2002. Almost all the Field staff from the rank of Soil Conservation. Field Workers to Soil Conservation Ranger of the East Khasi Hills District attended the Training.

Resource persons from the Soil and Water Conservation Department and from the State Institute for Rural Development (SIRD) imparted training to the Trainees. The Guest Lecture was delivered by Dr. A.K. Nongkynrih from NEHU.
