Training Programme Via Satellite Communication Technology

18th December, 2002 (DSCO-SHG-T) : A Training Programme using Satellite Communication Technology was conducted by the North Eastern Space Application Centre for the first time ever in the state in cooperation with the Soil and Water Conservation Department and the State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) The training was held at Thangsning Village on the 18th October, 2002.

The thrust of the training was in generating awareness and discussion on various programmes implemented under rural development. The training was carried out through mobile unit of NESAC, while the resource person presented their services from the campus of the space centre. The resource persons of the Training were Shri K.W. Marbaniang, Divisional Soil Conservation Officer, Shillong (T), State Institute Rural Development, Director Smt. L. Diengdoh, MCS; Smt A.P. Jyrwa, Faulty Member SIRD; Ms. A. Dohling, Faulty Member and B.S. Rymnong Faculty Member SIRD. The trainees comprises the members of Watershed Association, Watershed Committees of the Integrated Wasteland Development Project, Village Headmen, Representatives of NGOS and Self Help Group.

Farmer’s Training cum Exposure Trip Under IWDP Scheme:

29th - 30th October, 2002 (DSCO-SHG-T) : A Training Programme cum Exposure Trip to the State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD), Rural Resource Training Centre (RRTC) Umran and Umrynjah Micro Watershed was organised for the farmers and Community members of the Umtong Syiem Macro - Watershed (IWDP) by the Shillong Soil and Water Conservation Division (T).

12th & 13th November, 2002 (DSCO- SHG -T) : A Training cum Exposure Trip to SIRD, RRTC & Umrynjah Macro Watershed was for the farmers of the Umjiteng Macro Watershed was organised by the Shillong Soil and Water Conservation Division (T)

10th - 20th November, 2002 (DSCO-SHG-T) : A Training cum Exposure Trip to SIRD, RRTC and Umrynjah Micro Watershed for the farming community of the Nongkrem, Pomlakrai and Mawmuthoh villages of the Umiew Micro Watershed under IWDP-Scheme was organised by Shillong Soil and Water Conservation Division (T).

26th - 27th November, 2002 (DSCO-SHG-T) : Training cum Exposure Trip to SIRD, RRTC - Umran, Ri Bhoi, Veg and Horticultural Res. Station and Umsning Tea Research Centre for the farmers of Smit, Thangsning, Laitdiengsai, Umiew, Maw-U-Sam, Urmasi-u-joh villages including some members of R.S. Lyngdoh Training Centre of the Umiew Micro Watershed under the IWDP Scheme was organised by the Shillong Soil and Water Conservation Division (T).

Field Trip of Farmers Under WDPSCA - Scheme:

25th June, 2002 (DSCO-SHG-T) : Farmers Training cum Exposure Trip of Farmers from 12-Shnong under WDPSCA Scheme was organised by Shillong Soil Conservation Division (T), Shillong to RRTC, Umran, Ri Bhoi District. About 49 nos. farmers were exposed to the different improved farming. technique and System during the field trip.
