Soil & Water Conservation Officer bags Meghalaya Day Excellence Award
Another milestone in the achievements of the Soil & Water Conservation Department’s is the award conferred to an Officer of the Department by the State Government of Meghalaya.
Shri K.W. Marbaniang ,Divisional Soil Conservation Officer of the Shillong Territorial Soil Conservation Division bagged the prestigious Meghalaya Day Excellence Award, 2004. The Award was given to him at the celebration of Meghalaya Day at Pologround on the 21st January, 2004.
REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS
The Shillong Soil Conservation Territorial and the Shillong Cash Crop Divisions participated in the Republic Day Celebration at Polo Ground, Shillong. A tableau on the theme of Soil and Water Conservation was also displayed.
WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY CELEBRATIONS
The office of the Divisional Soil Conservation Officer, Shillong Soil Conservation (T) Division, celebrated the World Environment Day at Mawsmai Eco-Park, Cherrapunjee. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Shri K.L.Tariang, Director of Soil & Water Conservation and Guest of Honour was Shri B.S.Sohliya, Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Sohra.
VISITS AND INSPECTIONS
Shri.S.K.Jha, Engineer of NABARD headquarters Bombay along with Shri. A.Syiem, Joint Director of Soil Conservation (HQ.) visited the area proposed for- Phase II of the Umiap River valley Project under NABARD, RIDF- IX. Existing land uses and erosion related problems were video-filmed. There were also interaction with the farmers of the area.
TRAINING PROGRAMMES
The Department deputed the following Officers for attending the Training Programme on Lay Cardamom organized by the Directorate of Agriculture and was held at Conference Hall, Shillong.
EXHIBITION
The Office of the Divisional Soil Conservation Officer, Shillong Soil Conservation (T) Division participated in the 56th North Eastern Regional Livestock and Poultry Show, organized by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Government of Meghalaya at Polo ground , Shillong. Exhibitions and illustrations through models portraying various Soil and Water Conservation activities, displaying of photographs etc. were exhibited.
SEEDLINGS DISTRIBUTION PROGRAMME
A Seedlings Distribution Programme was organized by Simsanggre Soil Conservation Division under Cash Crop Development Scheme at Songsak-Bonegre and WDPSCA Projects at Khera-Mikgilsimgre villages respectively under East Garo Hills District.
