Passing Out Ceremony

The Passing Out Ceremony of the 3rd Batch Short Term Training Course on Integrated Watershed Management and Development Approach conducted by the Conservation Training Institute, Byrnihat, Meghalaya was held on the 25th July, 2002.

The Passing Out Ceremony of the 29th Batch Field Assistant Trainees was held on the 13th September, 2002. The Ceremony was graced by Shri P.W. Ingty, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, Soil Conservation, Meghalaya as the Chief Guest.

Launching of Website of The Soil and Water Conservation Department, Meghalaya

The Website of the Soil and Water Conservation, Meghalaya, Shillong was launched on the 19th November, 2002 by the Hon’ble Minister of Soil Conservation, Shri Sanbor Swell Lyngdoh in the auditorium of the Soil Conservation Office, Polo Hills, Shillong

Celebration of Year of the Farmer

The office of the Jowai Soil Conservation Division (Cash Crop) celebrated the year of farmer by conducting Farmer’s Training cum Distribution of seedlings at Lamin Village on the 30th July, 2002.

Training Programmes

A Farmer Training Programme was held at Nonglang, West Khasi Hills for farmers benefitting from the Scheme WDPSCA under the Umkhynrew; Ummari and Umsawpungsier Micro Watershed.

Off Campus Training

An Off-Campus Programme on participatory Watershed Management (Training of Trainers) organised by the State Institute of Rural Development, Meghalaya, was held at the Auditorium of the Office of the Divisional Soil Conservation Officer (T) Shillong from the 3rd to 5th December, 2002.

Training Programme Via Satellite Communication Technology

A Training Programme using Satellite Communication Technology was conducted by the North Eastern Space Application Centre for the first time ever in the state in cooperation with the Soil and Water Conservation Department and the State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) The training was held at Thangsning Village on the 18th October, 2002.

Farmer’s Training cum Exposure Trip

A Training Programme cum Exposure Trip to the State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD), Rural Resource Training Centre (RRTC) Umran and Umrynjah Micro Watershed was organised for the farmers and Community members of the Umtong Syiem Macro - Watershed (IWDP) by the Shillong Soil and Water Conservation Division (T).

Inspection:

Smt. E. Tariang, Assistant General Manager NABARD, Mumbai Head office and Shri Navde, Deputy General Manager NABARD Shillong visited the Umyiap River Valley Project where the various works implemented were assessed by the Inspected Officials.
