Study Tour

The 29th Batch Field Assistant Trainees of the Conservation Training Institute, Byrnihat went on a study tour to East & West Khasi Hills and Jaintia Hills Districts from 18th to 28th February 2002 to study the various works on forestry, soil conservation, agriculture, watershed management, Central Sector Schemes and NABARD Schemes.

Shri A.B.S. Swer and Shri H.J. Sangma, Assistant Soil Conservation Officers accompanied 14 farmers of the State to Nasik, Maharashtra from the 5th to 15th April, 2002 on a study tour sponsored under the NABARD Scheme.

WORKSHOPS

The National Resource Management Division, Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India, in collaboration with the Soil and Water Conservation Department of Meghalaya had organized a one day State level workshop on ‘New Guidelines of the Scheme Watershed Development Project in Shifting Cultivation Areas". The aim of the workshop was to facilitate orientation of the participants about the guidelines and to further supplement and share discussion for effective planning of the programme especially capacity building component under the project.

The Workshop was held on 19th June, 2002 at Raitong building, Shillong. The participants included mostly district level officers of the Soil and Water Conservation Department and other line Departments and a few NGOs.

Smti. I. Rynjah, Assistant Soil Conservation Officer and Smti. B.H. Syiem, Assistant Soil Conservation Officer attended a State level workshop under the Swayamsidha/Integrated Women’s Empowerment Programme on the 5th and 6th June, 2002 at Pinewood Hotel, Shillong. This Workshop was organized by the Department of Social Welfare. The Objective of the Workshop was to advocate and disseminate information for the development and implementation of supportive policies relating to Women Self Help Group. Shri J.A Lyngdoh, Hon’ble Minister of Social Welfare, Government of Meghalaya was the Chief Guest at the Inaugural function.
