Soil & Water Conservation Officer bags Meghalaya Day Excellence Award
Another milestone in the achievements of the Soil & Water Conservation Department’s is the award conferred to an Officer of the Department by the State Government of Meghalaya.
Shri K.W. Marbaniang, Divisional Soil Conservation Officer of the Shillong Territorial Soil Conservation Division bagged the prestigious Meghalaya Day Excellence Award, 2004. The Award was given to him at the celebration of Meghalaya Day at Pologround on the 21st January, 2004.
Shri K.W. Marbaniang who joined the Department in 1982 rose through the ranks by his dedication, hard work and sincerity. He had been instrumental in taking the developmental programmes to the people at the grassroots level and is a pioneer in the promotion and establishment of the concept of Self-Help Groups in operational areas where the watershed projects of the Division are taken up.

The Shillong Soil Conservation Territorial and the Shillong Cash Crop Divisions participated in the Republic Day Celebration at Polo Ground, Shillong. A tableau on the theme of Soil and Water Conservation was also displayed.

The Office of the Divisional Soil Conservation Officer, Nongpoh participated in the Republic Day celebration at Nongpoh and was adjudged the Best Tableau Display.

The Jaintia Hills Soil Conservation (T) and (CC) Division participated in the celebration of Republic Day at Jrisalein Playground , Jowai and presented a tableau highlighting the various activities of the department. The tableau bagged the 2nd Prize at the celebration.

The Office of the Tura Soil Conservation Cash Crop Divisions took part in the Republic Day celebration with a tableau showcasing the various activities of the Department and also the ill-effects of Jhumming.
