Shri.S.K.Jha, Engineer of NABARD headquarters Bombay along with Shri. A.Syiem, Joint Director of Soil Conservation (HQ.) visited the area proposed for- Phase II of the Umiap River valley Project under NABARD, RIDF- IX. Existing land uses and erosion related problems were video-filmed. There were also interaction with the farmers of the area.

The Director of Soil Conservation, Shri.K.L.Tariang, visited the Nongstoin Soil Conservation Division and held a review meeting of all ongoing schemes implemented by the Division. He also visited the Umbyrshan watershed (IWDP) and operational areas of SGRY scheme.

Deputy controllers of Accounts , Shri M.K.Mishra and party, from the Ministry of Rural Development , Government of India , New Delhi, along with representatives from DRDA, Jowai visited the Upper and Lower Mynktung Watershed area taken up under IWDP under Laskein C & RD Block and appreciated the mode of implementation of the on-going projects.

Maharashtra State Government officials along with the officials of the Indo German Bilateral Project on Capacity Building and Training, a technical collaboration between ministry of Agriculture, Govt.of India and German Ministry for Economic Co-operation and Development, visited Meghalaya and had a sharing experience and learning session with the officials of the Department on the 10th March at Raitong conference Hall, Shillong An exposure visit to Conservation Training Institute, Byrnihat was undertaken on the 11th March, 2004. The team had discussions with the officers of the Institute.

Shri K.W. Marbaniang, Divisional Soil Conservation Officer, Shillong (T) Division accompanied Shri D.P. Wahlang, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills and Chairman, District Watershed Development Committee (WDPSCA) on his visit to Mawtongreng village, 12-Shnong WDPSCA project where he inaugurated the Community Hall constructed under Entry Point Activity (EPA). The Deputy Commissioner interacted with the watershed community on the implementation of the project and the problems faced by the community. He lauded the efforts of the Department on the implementation of the project in the area.
