The Office of the Divisional Soil Conservation Officer, Shillong Soil Conservation (T) Division participated in the 56th North Eastern Regional Livestock and Poultry Show, organized by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Government of Meghalaya at Polo ground , Shillong. Exhibitions and illustrations through models portraying various Soil and Water Conservation activities, displaying of photographs etc. were exhibited.

The Office of the Jaintia Hills Soil Conservation Territorial & Cash Crop Division took part in the 18th District Level Industrial Exhibition, organized by the District Industries Centre (DIC), Jowai at Tympang Club Playground, Jowai. A model depicting the various activities of the Department was displayed and bagged the 1st Prize.

SEEDLINGS DISTRIBUTION PROGRAMME

29th & 30th June, 2004

A Seedlings Distribution Programme was organized by Simsanggre Soil Conservation Division under Cash Crop Development Scheme at Songsak-Bonegre and WDPSCA Projects at Khera-Mikgilsimgre villages respectively under East Garo Hills District. Speaking on the occasion as Chief Guest Shri E.P.Kharbhih, IAS,Deputy Comissioner, East Garo Hills District appealed to the farmers to sincerely take up permanent plantation. In the gathering Shri A. Ch. Marak , Project Director , DRDA & Additional Deputy Commissioner informed about the various DRDA & C.D. Block Schemes and emphasized on the need to maintain peace at all cost to bring development and progress in the area and exhorted the villagers to work hard and to stand up unitedly against any anti-social elements in the Society. Other Officers who spoke on the occasion include Smti. V.Sangma, Superintendent of Fisheries, Williamnagar.

At Songsak - Bonegre the Chief Guest for the Seedling Distribution Programme was Shri Clement Sangma, Songsak C&RD.Block Chairman, Later the Chief Guest and other dignitaries distributed arecanut Seedlings to the selected farmers. About 24,000 arecanut seedlings were distributed on two occasions covering about 54 surroundings villages for 522 farmers.

A Seedlings Distribution Programme was held at Bajengdoba village Shri S.R.Marak, MCS., S.D.O.Resu - Belpara Civil Sub - Division while speaking as a Chief Guest on the occasion, appealed to the farmers to be more proactive while availing Government Schemes and aids and to give up the subsidy mentally . Others who spoke on the occasion were Shri C.B.Marak , Ex-MLA & Ministers , Shri D.Sangma, Retired Deputy Inspector of Schools, Bajengdoba and other villagers/beneficiaries . Later about 27,000-arecanut seedlings were distributed to 206 farmer of Bajengdoba area.

In other similar programmes under Upper Chill, Upper Chibok, Thapa, Romphi, Gitting, Rongre and Ganing Watershed Projects (WDPSCA) about 42,000 Nos. Arecanut Seedlings were distributed to the farmers.

  2. Shri P.Syrpuh, Soil Conservation Ranger promoted as Assistant Soil Conservation Officer, Conservation Training Institute, Byrnihat.

APPOINTMENT ON COMPASSIONATE GROUND

  1. Smti Aibidaline Syiem as chowkidar Nongstoin.
  2. Smti. Dorathy K.Sangma as Khalasi Tura (T).
  3. Shri Jana Ngiamlai as Plantation Mali, Jowai (T).
  4. Smti. Sujata M.Sangma as chowkidar Tura (T).

RETIREMENT

  1. Shri S.Lyngdoh Head Assistant, retired on 31st January 2004.
  2. Smti.L.Tham, Upper Division Assistant retired on 29th February 2004.
  3. Shri. Gopal Chandra Sharma, Rubber Tapper retired on 29th February 2004.
  4. Shri J.S.Ray, Assistant Soil Conservation Officer, retired on 29th, February, 2004
  5. Smti R.Shullai, Head Assistant, retired on 1st May, 2004.

TRANSFERS & POSTING

  1. Shri A.B.S. Swer, Executive Officer, Meghalaya Commercial Crops Development Board was transferred and posted as Assistant Soil Conservation Officer (Soil Chemist) to Conservation Training Institute, Byrnihat.
  2. Shri Mitchell Lyndem, Soil Conservation Demonstrator (Sr) was transferred from Jowai Soil Conservation (T) Division to Shillong Soil Conservation (CC) Division.
  3. Shri Pynbeitlang Laloo, Soil Conservation Demonstrator (Sr) was transferred from Shillong Soil Conservation (CC) Division to Jowai Soil Conservation (T) Division.
  4. Smti B.M.Lyngdoh, Upper Division Assistant was transferred from Conservation Training Institute, Byrnihat to Directorate of Soil Conservation, Shillong
