Functions and Celebrations

21st January 2003: Department bags first prize
The Soil & Water Conservation Department, Meghalaya bagged the first prize for decoration and display at the Exhibition organized by the Government of Meghalaya at Polo Ground from 21st January, 2003 to 25th January, 2003 to Celebrate " Meghalaya Day". A Certificate of merit as well as a memento was also awarded to the Department on the occasion.

Meghalaya Day was observed at Nongstoin, in Trysem Hall, in which the Deputy Commissioner, West Khasi Hills District graced the occasion. Officers and staff of Nongstoin Soil Conservation Division attended the function. Shri.D.Langstieh, Divisional Soil Conservation Officer, Nongstoin was selected from amongst the District Heads, to deliver a lecture on the occasion. 

26th January 2003: The office of the Shillong Territorial and Cash Crops Division, participated in the Republic Day celebration at Polo Ground, Shillong. A tableau on the theme of Soil and Water Conservation was also displayed. The tableau attracted a large number of public who came to witness the celebration.

7th March 2003: The Divisional Soil Conservation Officer, Nongstoin (T) Division along with other officers of the Division accompanied the Deputy Commissioner, West Khasi Hills District on a visit to Weinia Fall, Nongkhnum. The views and opinions of the officials of the Department were sought for beautifying the spot by way of developing assets that has aesthetic values.

4th June 2003:Simsanggre Soil Conservation Division organized a seedlings distribution programme at Nengsamgre village under Rongap Integrated Wasteland Development Project Watershed Project Area. The Project Director, DRDA, East Garo Hills who was the Chief Guest, distributed about 6000 arecanut seedlings to 69 nos. of beneficiaries.

5th June 2003:The office of the Divisional Soil Conservation Officer, Jowai (CC) Division distributed citrus and other fruit seedlings to the beneficiaries of Kdohkule village, Namdong Range.

9th June 2003:The Shillong Cash Crop Division distributed 65,004 nos. of orange seedlings and 10,000 nos. of Assam Lemon seedlings to 25 nos. of villages within the vicinity of Phud-Bhowal Nursery, in which 310 nos. of families were benefited.
